Modernizing Higher Education: Aligning 10 Academic Programs with the FutureFit Educational Framework (FEF-for-OBE)

From September 18 to 22, 2026, university leadership and academic representatives participated in an intensive five-day training workshop titled “Program Modernization in line with FutureFit Educational Framework for OBE to 10 Academic Programs”, held at the Rainforest Hotel in Kampot Province.

Organized under the Second Higher Education Improvement Project (HEIP) by the Directorate General of Higher Education (DGHE), Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS), the workshop brought together education leaders, technical trainers, and institutional representatives to advance curriculum development across Cambodian higher Education Institutions.

Objectives

Strategic & Academic Objectives

Align Programs with the FutureFit Educational Framework (FEF): Embed FEF principles and modern pedagogical strategies into target academic degree programs to align higher education offerings with evolving industry needs.
Institutionalize Outcome-Based Education (OBE): Shift curriculum structures from content-based instruction to student-centered, competency-driven learning outcomes that clearly define measurable graduate attributes.
Modernize Core Academic Curricula: Review and update course content, teaching methodologies, and assessment tools across 10 academic programs in compliance with national higher education modernization directives under HEIP-II.

Practical & Operational Objectives

Master Technical Guidance from Core Partners: Gain hands-on understanding of technical tools and frameworks presented by GTC, GIP, and GHA training modules.
Conduct Program Gap and Needs Analyses: Systematically evaluate current curricula against FutureFit standards to identify deficiencies in competencies, industry alignment, and teaching resources.
Formulate Actionable Implementation Plans: Develop concrete, milestone-driven institutional roadmaps to roll out revised curriculum guidelines, monitoring mechanisms, and classroom delivery strategies.
